I always remember this tragic event. I grew up on the North Shore of Lake Superior and was in high school when it happened. Once each year, on this sad day, the Split Rock Lighthouse lights it light and rings its bell 25 times in memory. Living in Central Minnesota now, our local AM radio also seems to remember that day and plays Gordon Lightfoots ballad. But I, too, remember the families in my prayers, and also those others lost to Lake Superior: the other wrecks and the fishermen.
