I was always hoping that the Wexford would be found, and now it is. Her good condition makes me think she hit the trough like all the others. In this case, however, here Russian Tramp steamer characteristic of a center pilot house and cabin probably acted as a counter balance, righting her as she went down. The force of her flipping may have then broken off her masts. Dare I ask if any remains were found in say, the engine room? This would indicate a quick sinking in my mind.
The fact that she is stripped doesn't suprise me at all. We all know the reports of people supposedly having found her over the years: is it that much of stretch to think that she was stripped by some scrap metal divers during one of the two World Wars? The Price's present condition is entirely due to this type of action: from what I understand, she is darn near broke in half. There are unscrupulous people: its a real shame.
What of the other Lake Huron 1913 "Went Missing" candidates, the Argus and the Hydrus?

: : Dove the Wexford on Sunday. Very nice wreck, but not near as many artifacts as I had been expecting.
: : The bow of the ship was magnificant, with both anchors still hanging as if they were ready to be dropped.
: : Very silty wreck, and with the number of divers we had, the interior visibility diminished quickly.
: : Took the charter out of Goderich Harbour aboard the Tug "Dover". Although they are new at dive chargers, they did a very nice job, although it was along ride (2.5hr each way). Seems to be located much closer to Grand Bend than Goderich.

: : Definitely a dive worth doing.
