: Some friends in another city, who are preparing to move in the VERY near future have come across two “forgotten pictures” about which they hope for some information. I quote from the letter I received:

: “One is a b/w print? “Wreck of Barge J T. Johnson near Cleveland, Ohio, Nov. 11, ‘83” signed B. J. Taylor ’84. In very small print under a boat of six rowers and steers man (?) standing at the rear is printed US Life Saving Crew.

: “The second identically framed is of photo of 8 men in a uniform that has a chest covering chevronx or breast plate with L.S.S. on it, plus one man not in uniform but in the center of the back row. The six front seated men clearly have large numbers on their belt buckles, 6, 4, 3, 5, 7.

: “The frames are about 4” deep radiator gold for inner inset, surrounded by flat black (painted by someone, runs on back) edging. We wondered if you could find some history for us. . . . There are also twin light houses in the background.”

: Information I have found for them is somewhat contradictory to the information they provided from the "prints."

: Currently, these friends do not have e-mail, however, I would be pleased to print and mail to them any responses, and both they and I would be grateful.

This is one we have somehow missed. I've checked our site and can find no mention of the J T Johnson. Fortunately I'll be doing a library search tomorrow and will check all of the contemporary newspapers for information. I'll post whatever I find to this group and to our web site at "http://www.alcheminc.com". Thanks for the lead.
