: I am compiling information on shipwrecks in the Toronto area.

: Other than the more known wrecks (Sligo, Alexandra, Julia E. Merrill, and the Lymann B. Davis)there are dozens of reports within this area.

: I am asking for any information to the wereabouts of the others.

: Any input would be appreciated.

Dennis you are correct, there have been many losses in this part of Lake Ontario. Unfortunately many have gone ashore where they have pounded to pieces or been buried under landfill as the cities waterfront expanded. Others have been covered over by the Leslie St spit expansion and by the shifting sands of the eroding Scarboro Bluffs. As for deep water wrecks there may be a few, but as you probably know the water off of the Toronto Islands drops off quickly to depths beyond sport diving range. During the 1920's the city initiated a harbour cleaning campaign to rid the area of the accumulation of derilict hulls. Many of these were reportedly scuttled off of Gibralter Pt. in deep water but this area of the lake is notorius for silting and poor visibility.
