: : The following is courtesy of Neil Schutiess' excellent website:

: : 08/30:
: : The wreck of the Wexford, a 250-foot steel hull, bulk freight that was lost in the "great Storm of 1913" has been found. The British cargo ship was found by divers resting in excellent condition, on the bottom of Lake Huron, sitting upright with only its stacks missing. The ship was discovered by a local salmon fisherman who noticed a bump on the bottom with his sonar. The wreck lies 11 kilometers offshore between Grand Bend and Bayfield.
: : The vessel was overwhelmed and sunk on November 10, 1913 while carrying a cargo of steel rails. Her crew of 17 were lost in the sinking.

: Where can I find more information on the Wexford
: Lat-lon ,depth,etc? Thanks

The Wexford is current;y off limits to all divers. We are waiting for Peter Ingram to come donw and set up the survey teamso we can begin cataloguing and surveying the entire vessel. The Lat/Long will not be released for a little while still. But for your info, I have been informed by someone who did the first dives on this vessel and: It lays upright in 56 - 72 feet of water and yes it is Approx. 11 miles out. All the portholes are there. This is a completely virgin wreck. The port side rails have been ripped/broken off .. the flying brydge is gone and the stacks are aswell are missing. I hope to assist in the surveying and finally see this fine wreck. I hope everyone will be on it by the end of October.
