This weekend I was walking along the beach about 1/2 mile north of the Sturgeon Pte Lighthouse in Harrisville, when I noticed a metal object with large rivets, about the size of a small car, sticking out of the water 30 feet off shore in 3 feet of water. As I walked out to it, it appeared to be the remains of a ship. Upon closer inspection, you can see the outline of approximately 50-60 feet of the ship, buried in the sand. The north end of it descends beneath the sand and is no longer visible. The South end raises up out of the sand, but displays little more than a metal framework with some wood and metal rivets. Most of the wreck is underwater.
I am curious as to the history of this unknown ship. My family and I vacation in Harrisville once a year, for the past 6 or 7 years, and this is the first time that I have seen this ship.

Thanks in advance for any information,

Sincerely,
