Many people are under the impression that Bill 13 has been put off until the Fall
to give Stake holders time to hold meetings and come up with alternatives.
This is not the case. It is still before the Standing Committee, but is not a priority,
as government bills are discussed before private members' bills.

The Province is attempting to affect diving in other ways.

They recently attempted to continue Gary Gentile's court case without opposition
in an attempt to set legal precedent, giving them authority to restrict diving on
shipwrecks. Fortunately, Nick Drakich was able to come up with several donations,
including $6,000 from PADI to have the case continued.

The Province has also recently banned the sinking of shipwrecks as artificial reefs.
This has caused at least 2 ship sinkings to be put on hold and has probably cost
Port Colborne the Canadiana, which now seems to have a date with the scrap yard.
