I'm not a diver, but I do have an active interest in car ferry history. On 10/22/1929 the Grand Trunk Railroad's carferry MILWAUKEE was lost on Lake Michigan, carrying a load of 25 rail cars. One of the cars was loaded with new Nash automobiles. In 1972, the wreck was located about 10 miles out from Milwaukee. I know of at least one dive video that has been made showing the remains of the Nashes.
: Can anyone confirm if this is myth or fact ?
: I have heard from several reputable divers, well as
: reputable as any diver can be :), that somewhere at the west end of lake erie is a wreck of a medium sized car carrier that sank sometime in the 20's, carrying model T fords from Detroit to NY or somwhere points east. I have heard this story round and about from several sources unkown to each other for going on 15 years now. Anyone know anything about this , ships name , approximate (or exact) location, I have also heard it has been marked several times but shifts cause loss of marker, ???, anyone ....
