: A couple of my class mates and I are doing a senior research project on the ship wrecks on Lake Erie. Any information pretaining to wrecks, dates, times, weather, reasons for loss, cargo, passengers, ship names and details, location of wreck, crew, shipping companies, and any myths and legends that may have been circulated over the years about Lake Erie. Any information will be greatly appriciated and hopefully great use in our paper.
: Thank you,

You might want to read up on the Black Dog of Erie. Kind of spooky if you get the right tales about the beast. I have a book that has info on it, but it is at my cottage on the Bruce but I will be going there this weekend. I'll try to remember to post the name and author for you on friday.

A few other myths in general for the Great Lakes,

1) never sail on a Friday
2) never start a boating season on a friday
3) never have a cat as a moscote
4) never change a boat's name

So if you have a boat that you just change its name to Titanic, and you will be starting your boating seasons on Friday the 13th with you pet cat (named Black Bog), you're doomed. LOL :)
