: A new website has been established with the midwestern diver in mind. We are currently accepting submissions from divers throughout the midwest to relate their stories, favorite dive sites, etc. as well as a place for midwestern divers to get information on dive centers, instructors, equipment manufacturers, charter operators, etc. Please check us out and contribute if you can! We would also appreciate forwarding this to anyone you think might be interested! Our URL is

: Thanks!

To whom it may concern,
My name is David Mathis and I am a PADI instructor and a member of the
county dive team. For the last year I have been involved with trying to
legally sink a 35 foot boat in my lake for the diving public. Time after

Time I thought I had met all the DNR criteria only to be passed onto the

next level.
They have all agreed that it would be a excellent fish habitat and
multi use structure(dive) However the argument was that I was setting a
precedent and that if they allowed me to do it they would have to allow
everyone.
I have generated allot of local support including police dive teem ect.

The way I was last stopped was that they classified it not as a fish
crib but a structure. Therefore I need a large fee and hearing ect. But
the last DNR man has agreed to let the matter be re-decided by his
superior. This man will be here next week and what I am desperately
trying to establish is that there already is precedents set, such as the

dive platforms in lake Wazi.
The reason I am writing is to ask you or your members if you are aware
of any other such platforms or any boats or objects that have been
placed in water that could possibly help. These objects could include
private quarries or the great lakes.I would greatly appreciate any help
that you could offer or any other contacts that might help me.

Sincerely, David l. mathis
