: The Sea Belle, Calliope, Normal, Manchester, Charles Clark, Guide, Zenobia, Rose, and probably several other wrecks occured in July of 1853. All of these were in the North East, but none on the Hudson River. If you are fairly certain about the date and the location, then you should search through the newspapers from that area for that time.
: If you want lots of assistance from the Morman community. Find a Mormon Newsgroup and post a message saying that you are looking for information on a shipwreck that was discovered in the Hudson River in July of 1853. Here is the important part, you have to say that the ship was supposed to be of "a most unusual construction, like nothing else built by man." I can almost guarantee that you will stir up a lot of interest from people who will want to believe that this must be the ancient vessel that carried their people to the promised land. This is what happened last year with a wood fuel barge in the Chicago River. I am not making fun of the Mormon faith, but this could be fun.

: : I am trying to find out if any ship wrecked on the Hudson in July of 1853. If one did, does anyone know where I can find info on the names of passengers lost?

: : Thanks for any help!
