: There was a plane crash in the late 1980's by a small aircraft on route to Kelleys Island from South Bass Island...The plane was on it's way to Kelley's Island to rescue the Police chief who was having a heart attach. The plane crashed in the dense fog. All hands were lost. The chief died because he could not be rescued.
