I believe you are incorrect Mr. Rich about the three divers that were charged. In fact, they pled "No Contest" which is much different than "guilty" The prosecution made the correct determination that they did not have enough of a case to convict the three divers with a felony so they were subsequently convicted only of a misdemeanor. My understanding is that they were required to pay a $2500 fine to the local museum and have been barred from diving in the Sanilac County Preserve.

: : : Does anybody know what ever happened to the 3 guys who swiped the stuff from the New Yorker?

: All three subjects pled guilty on January 10, 2000 in Sanilac County Circuit Court. The item removed is being stored in water at the Sanilac County Sheriff Department and will be returned to the wreck site as soon as possible by members of the Sanilac County Dive Team. This will consist of individuals who had originally found, photographed and documented the wreck site. Myself included. Thanks for your interest, feel free to email me at anytime for further details regarding this case.
