: looking for information on uss wilmette, where it was stationed in 1921 and it's involvement in the sinking of the uc-97. photo's and news accounting would be nice too.

I am unable to directly give you what you are looking for, but I can give you some information that I know. It was called the "Wilmette," not the "Wilimette." My guess was that it was named after Chicago's north suburb. It helped sink the UC-97 some time after World War II in the mid to late 40's, as a provision of the Versaille treaty. It sank it in Lake Michigan, where the UC-97 still resides. The Wilmette was decommisioned and scrapped sometime after that. But most notably, the Wilmette had lived a notorious previous life before it was overhauled and refitted. It was none other than the Eastland, which toppled over in the Chicago river in 1915, claiming the lives of over 800 people. There are a number of Web sites about the Eastland.
