: I need some opinions here. A friend of mine was in the U.P. this summer. On a secluded beach he found timbers from a wreck, spikes included. He showed me pictures and I concur it is pieces of a wreck. He is thinking of retrieving this wood, for display, in the near future. Some of the pieces are substancial(14'X 2'X 3"). The timber is scattered and no one would miss it. It might be gone next big storm, or be there for years. Is it morally and ethically wrong to retrieve these items? Your views would be greatly appreciated.

: Thanks

Thanks for your opinions. I am not revealing the location of the beach which the timbers were found. I promised my friend to keep the location hidden. I might dive offshore next summer and look for more substancial wreckage. There is no plan to remove the shore timbers right now. I'm sure they will be destroyed over the next couple years. But what can be done with them if they are recovered? I will try to post pictures of the timbers if I figure out how.

Ross
