: : Streamer Price Just comming up at 12:10 PM

: : Could this be picture of the Charles Price? I see no record that the Price was ever salvaged or raised.

: : My grandfather was captain of the wrecker Favortie that righted the Eastland in 1915 after she rolled over in Chicago.

: : This picture could have been taken from the deck of the Favorite. The note on the back of the photo appears to be in my grandfather's handwriting.

: This is very unlikely, as the C.S. Price was turned on her beam ends in the great storm of November 9,1913. Whille the Price was spotted for days as a floating hull (air caught in her forward compartments) she later disappeared and sank off of Lexington Mich.

: Could it be possible that your Grandfather later in life added the notes, but messed up on the dating? If you see what I mean. Unforinately I did not see the picture you mentioned, but I would love a digital scan of one :)

: Thanks

Your date on the picture is correct!
The Favorite returned in 1915 to try and salvage the Price. It turned out it was beyond salvage and they released it. I'd love to see anything in your Grandfathers collection as well.. especially as we tweak the "Storms of the Century" documentary for PBS in Nov 2000. It includes the 1940/1905/1913 Storms.
