I do not often make statements as I am one of four members of the GLSRF, Inc. but here is my statement:
I live in Wisconsin but have been diving for 27 years and know that Michigan law 184 states it belongs to the State.
Do not remove it.
All the Great Lakes States have the do not take rule, some enforce it more than others and Michigan is one of them.
All it takes is someone hearing about it and they turn you in and Michigan will go after you. If someone sees you take it or you stop someplace and it's seen, you are in trouble. It is not worth the problems.
Michigan DNR keeps a eye on this site so they are probably following this posting.
