I don't have a particular problem with retrieving it, but I would be sure about the legalities of it. Between Grande Marais and Munising, there is a wreck on the beach, and I believe there is a poster on a bulletine board talking about the legalities of removing shipwreck pieces. I don't remember the specifics in the poster, but being that it is posted at the same beach as the wreck, it wouldn't surprise me if there are legal implications in removing the pieces.

: I need some opinions here. A friend of mine was in the U.P. this summer. On a secluded beach he found timbers from a wreck, spikes included. He showed me pictures and I concur it is pieces of a wreck. He is thinking of retrieving this wood, for display, in the near future. Some of the pieces are substancial(14'X 2'X 3"). The timber is scattered and no one would miss it. It might be gone next big storm, or be there for years. Is it morally and ethically wrong to retrieve these items? Your views would be greatly appreciated.

: Thanks
