Michael, The VERNA JANE was a 40-foot fishing tug
owned by Lund Fisheries, of Mamainse Harbour. It left
Mamainse Harbour on September 2nd, 1975 and sunk in
50 feet of water near Ganley Island, Lake Superior, it
was heading for Otter Island on the east shore of the
lake. The wreckage of the VERNA JANE was discovered
on Tuesday, September 9th, 1975. Three lives were
lost in the sinking: Rodney Lund, 21, grandson of
the owner; Richard Agawa, 53 and Ivan Neyland, 38,
both of Batchawana. Contact me if further information
is required.
