The Navy says the own title to any aircraft of there that crashed,
unless it was stricken from there records or abandoned. The Navy has
there own policy regarding there ships & aircraft..So if you decided to
salvage one of there planes make sure you get there permission in
writing. I dont think there is as many wrecks(USN), left in Lk.Mich as
there were say 20yrs. ago..some salvors have been secretly removeing
wrecks from the lake.
Two converted ships the Sable IX-81 & Wolverine IX-64, were made into
small aircraft carriers, so that naval aviators could practice
take-off's & landings, some never made it, crashing into the waters.
