: Does anybody know of any plans for a movie about the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald? I've read about a fellow named Chris Chabot, who was trying to get a screenplay made into a movie. Can help me in finding out more info? Thanks!

Here is the truth behind the rumor:
Chris is a writer from the U.P. who dove with us on the Delta Submersible visit to the Fitz in 1994. He wrote a nice story that combined the Fitz story with several other shipwrecks. Being in the group with Fred Shannon, he was introduced to Jim Clary, who painted the underwater wreck scenes based on the Delta footage of the Fitz. Clary's paintings were sent to Sean Connery, with the request that he read the script. This was several years ago.. and since then.. Clary has been contacting the media to say that Connery is pondering the movie. I've had several calls from the media asking to confirm the movie, and at the risk of being a fool- I don't think it's going to happen. Chris has the movie poster (with names and everything) from Clary's painting and the rumor has spread nationwide. I'm personally excited that it COULD be a movie, especially since Clary and Chris are talented and deserve the attention. But I don't think the media should be fooled into press coverage either.
