: Does anyone have any knowledge on the "Chown" shipwreck which I believe is located in the North Channel or near Manitoulin Island on Georgain Bay? I believe it sunk in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

: Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have been researching shipwrecks around the Manitoulin for the last 10 years. I ahve been able to find very little information on the Chown. One article I have that appeared in The September 1987 edition of Through The Years, states; This sailing schooner sank off the west side of Innis Islands west side while cruising down the channel. It was loaded with lumber at the time. For many years the mast stuck up, but it finally rotted with the rest of the ship. Other than this article I have never been able to find any documentation on the Chown.
I believe the wreck mentioned in the previous follow up is in fact the Thomas H. Cahoon.
