Mike,

When you sing do, ra, me is a very good place to start . . . . when you research GreatLake shipwrecks it is Boyer, Bowen, Wolf, Beers, Stonehouse etc. Start with the early works, not because they are some kind of gospel but because you are studying culture and it is the evolution of the (cultual ethos) that is the thing. It is difficult to appreciate fully a contemporary work as much more than a story if you do not know what came before it. Buy your books! Whenever possible, start your own library! If not in five years when your writing your first great paper on your latest discovery then soon, which will change our thinking on Great Lakes shipwrecks. You will be scratching your head wondering where you read that earlier article.

Well that's the approch I would use.

Scott
