Kevin,

The IGLR (now the HCGL) is located at Bowling Green
State University in Perrysburg, Ohio. They have a
website with contact info which I have a link to on
the main page of this site. The contact there is Bob
Graham. If you're interested, there is also a nice
drawing of her as she lies on the bottom.

: I am writing an article about the Pewabic disaster on Lake Huron Aug. 9, 1865. Julia Rumsey, who is buried in the Lockport Cemetery, Brady Township, Williams County, Ohio, was a passenger on the Pewabic and lost her life in the disaster. I am looking for a photograph or drawing of the Pewabic to use as an illustration for the article. There is apparently a drawing of the ship that appeared in the April 13, 1889 issue of Harpers Weekly, but I have been unable to locate a copy of that issue. The "Institute for Great Lakes Research" also apparently has a copy of this drawing, because it was used in the book "Terrifying Steamboat Stories" by James Donahue. The drawing in the book is too dark to reproduce well. Does anyone know how to contact the Institute for Great Lakes Research?

: I would also be interested in any information on the Pewabic's owners or builders if anyone has information on the subject.

: Thanx,
: Kevin Maynard
