I'm looking for information on my grandfathers ship that sunk around 1927. As the family story goes it name was the Cora. It was a scooner about seventy ft. long. He had it filled with pulpwood and was going to tow it to Mackinaw island or St. ignace, Mi. He had it anchored in Horseshoe bay which is in Lake Huron just a few miles northeast of St. Ignace. They were on the tow boat that night and a storm came up. They heard the anchor chain break and it came down on a big rock a sunk. The next morning the bay had pulpwood all over. For years after when he commercial fished the bay used to go there and look at her laying in about seven ft. of water. Seen a picture years a go of it but can,t find who has it. Any information would be welcomed. Feel free to email me at dalerenaud@webtv.com
