I am seeking any information on the disappearance without any trace of the Steamer Picton, which in company with another, smaller steamer, was on a day trip on Lake Michigan circa 1868/69. No trace was ever found, even by the following steamer. No coal dust, debris or even fotsam was found despite a search until nightfall. The disappearance wa complete and has never been explained.
This research is part of the preapration for a book and any assistance would be most welcome.
